I was laid off and my divorce was finalized within a few months of each other. I was numb needless to say. The layoff happened at the perfect time because I ended up taking care of my mother for the next year while she recovered from a pretty intense foot surgery. I took care of my home and kids along with my parents' home and my parents. Thinking back, I do not know how I managed it all.

But in whatever spare time I had, I did courses within Kathleens Program. One night in particular I was looking at my sons VeggieTales Devotional book and the devotion read as follows,

EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE

Nothing is too difficult for God! The Bible says everything is possible. We just need to believe that God can do it.

God can help you do whatever He has planned for you to do. He will never leave you to do it all by yourself. You can be happy knowing that if God wants you to do something. He will make it happen.

THOUGHT OF THE DAY

PRAY TODAY

Dear God, please help me believe you and trust you.

Amen.

You should have seen me at this moment. A light came on! My heart started racing. My body was vibrating. The feeling was exhilarating! I did not know what to do with myself. Now, I know it was an awakening that I had been lied to my whole life about God! I was taught just like many of you, that God is the BIG man upstairs and that if we don't follow his rules we were going to Hell.

With that said, now I believe we are One with God. We create with God because we are of God. We are not separate from God; we are part of God. God, Higher Power, Universe, Source energy, whatever you want to call it, it is God.

I also learned as a child and all the way through adulthood, that when you want something, you pray to the big man upstairs, just like this devotion says to but in reality, I found out that we just need to listen to what God/Universe is telling us. Sure, prayer is important but not the way we were taught. We can send out into the Universe whatever we want (whether it's a negative or positive) and we will receive it. But most importantly, we need to listen/see what is being brought to us. Silence can be so scary but that is when we learn the most about ourselves.
